OPERATION ORDER

Operation Red Storm 10/13/2018

1. SITUATION

 

TIME: 6OCT18 @ 1900 EST (0600 IGT)

 

WEATHER: 53F (12C); Cloudy; Wind 0.2kn N; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 2000 IGT

 

Our glorious offensive has come to a halt due to the open and difficult terrain. 40th Rifle Division is holding is currently holding the frontlines while we prepare for an assault. Motorized divisions of the 40th is ready to move into the positions we take.

 

 

a. Enemy Disposition

  1. The German frontline is well defended with static MGs, AT guns and large amounts of infantry, few prepared fighting positions.
  2. The areas and objectives behind the frontline are lightly defended and garrisoned.
  3. The German Panzer platoon is expected to counterattack us after we break the frontline.

b. Friendly Forces

  1. 40th Rifle Division. Holding the frontline.

c. 1940s - Rules of Engagement

 

On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions:​

  1. Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision.
  2. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. 
  3. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer.
  4. Unless there is Positive Identification of Targets in an unoccupied building, structures are not to be engaged or targeted by heavy Ordinance including Mortars, Artillery, Armor, or any other forms of high explosives.
  5. The Killing of any unarmed civilian will require a full report from the NCOIC to the Commanding Officer, including the circumstances leading up to the killing.
  6. Each trooper is allotted one "accident" for the entire campaign. If that specific trooper has a second incident involving the killing of an unarmed civilian, that soldier may be removed from the server for the rest of the mission.

2. MISSION

 

1st Platoon is tasked with breaking through the Nazi front line. We will be driving through the German defences and punching a whole to the rear of their line. 71st AHC will be Supporting 1st Platoon with Armored, Artillery, and CAS Support.

Notes from Commander:

  • Supplies and manpower transport are available from the previously secured positions.
  • PAC and surgical kits available in the field.
  • All requests for Close Air Support/Medevac/Resupply/Insertion are to go to Mako 1-6 on FREQ 40.0. Mako 1-6 will contact Rattler 1-6 on FREQ 50.0 to request an asset to assist 1st Platoon as necessary. Once the asset is in the area of Operation for Mako 1-6, Infantry can contact the bird via CAS Net FREQ 45.0 to guide in the bird/direct close air support.
  • If an infantry element is in threat of being overrun and requires immediate assistance, they may declare a "Tactical Emergency" to Mako 1-6, who will then have Rattler 1-6 redirect all available air assets to Mako 1-6's Area of Operation to prevent the unit from being overrun.

3. EXECUTION

 

1st Platoon, A. Company, 1/7th Cavalry

 

 

1st Platoon

 

1st Platoon will be smashing through the Frontline Defences, and will be setting up security and preparing for counter attack after the intial breach. Next they will continue a push through several objectives.

 

PRIMARY TASKING: Punching through the lines at OBJ Vasily, and hold the ground taken from possible German Armored Counterattack.

 

SECONDARY TASKING: Secure the mountaintop castle at Objective Radishchev

 

TERTIARY TASKING: Secure Objectives Pytor & Sergei

 

 

 

71st Assault Helicopter Company

 

71st AHC is to be flying air support for 1st Platoon. 

 

PRIMARY TASKING: Providing Armored Support for 1st Platoon

 

SECONDARY TASKING: Provide CAS Support for 1st Platoon

 

TERTIARY TASKING: Provide Artillery Support for 1st Platoon

 

 

 

PHASE I - Objective Vasily 

 

a. 1st Platoon & 71st AHC will load up into Trucks and Armor, and will move from Staging Ground to RP 1. 

b. 1st Squad will move from RP 1 to RP 2, staying low getting eyes on the enemy positions. 2nd Squad and 71st AHC will hold at RP 1. Friendly CAS will soften up OBJ Vasily. 

c. 2nd Squad & Armor will move up to RP 2. IL-2s will be engaging tagets in the village. 1st Platoon will move from RP 2 to RP3, and begin to advance west through the tree line, while Armor advances from RP 2 to SBF 1.

d. 2nd Squad will be on point and will push into Zone 1 & Zone 2 and begin clearing. Mean while Armor will advance from SPF 1 to SBF 2. 1st Squad and Armor will begin moving northwest to Zone 4, and 1st Squad will begin clearing their zones to the North. 

e. Each squad will clear their respective Zones, and begin to set up defensive positions.

PHASE II - Enemy Counter Attack

 

a. 1st Platoon will turn static emplacements captured against the enemy. Possible routers of Counter Attack are labeled. Two Main Routes, one from the West and the South. 

b. 1st Squad will set up at WP 3, and fall back positions being at WP 1. 1st Squad will have a T-34 to assist.

c. 2nd Squad will set up at WP 2, and send half their forces to WP 4 and dig in. Fall back position in Zone 3. 2nd Squad will have a KV - 1 to Assist.

d. When the counter attack peters out, 1st Platoon will assault through the stragglers.

PHASE III - OBJ Radishchev

 

 

a. 1st Platoon and Armor will immediately push from their defensive positions and will drive off retreating German Forces and will Rally at RP 4. 

b. 71st AHC will begin to strike OBJ Radischev with repeated Rocket Artillery Barrages, while 1st Platoon and Armor advances.

c. From RP 4, 1st Platoon will move on to RP 5, and will follow the Tree Line west from RP 6 to RP 7.  

d. Halfway between RP 6 and RP 7, Artillery will cease. 

e. Once at RP 6, Armor will push through the trees to SBF 5, while 1st Squad will move to WP 4, and 2nd Squad will move to WP 5.

f. After the shock of a massive artillery strike, 1st Squad will move in and clear the southern Zone 1, 2nd Squad will move in and clear the northern half in Zone 2.

g. After the Objective is Cleared, 1st Squad will pull security on the southwestern Corner, with 2nd Squad securing the western half.

h. From there 1st Platoon and armor will rally at RP 8.

PHASE IV - OBJ Pyotr

 

a. 1st Platoon will move from RP 8 to RP 9 through the trees.

b. 2nd Squad will move south along the road to Zone 2. 1st Squad and armor will move to WP 5 and clear zone 1. Armor will hold on SBF at SBF 7.

c. 1st Squad and 2nd Squad will push online through zones, to the southwest, clearing the zone as they go.

d. After clearing the village, 1st Platoon will hold at RP 10.

e. Then will begin for the final push onto OBJ Sergi.

PHASE V - OBJ Sergi

 

a. 1st Squad will move out with a T-34 to WP 7. 2nd Squad will move from RP 10 to WP 8 with a KV -1.

b. 1st Squad will clear Zones 1, 3, and 5, and engage targets across the runway after clearing. 

c. 2nd Squad will clear Zones 2 and 4, and engage targets across the runway after clearing. 

d. 1st Squad will move south and J hook down to Zone 7, clear it and pull security at WP 9.

e. 2nd Squad will move North and J hook around the runway, clear Zone 6, and set up at WP 10.

PHASE VI - Extraction

 

a. All teams/mission specific equipment/or vehicles must be returned within the confines of a friendly FOB or the 1st Cavalry Division Airbase before ENDEX.

b. If a vehicle is left in the field it will be lost for the duration of the campaign.

- Except Two man Vietcong patrols in the vicinity

- Reinserts will not be Via teleport this time. Be very careful. If you die, Reinserts will be done via helicopter.
