Kauffman Posted May 7, 2022 Share Posted May 7, 2022 WARNING ORDER Operation Fortress Ridge 001 South Vietnam - I Corps - Quang Tri Province - Khe Sanh - 1967 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITUATION OPERATION TIME: 1900 EST 5.6.22 ORGANIZATION: 1. REGION: Highlands, Quang Tri, South Vietnam 2. WEATHER: Clear Skies; 97F ; Wind <1kn NNE; Dawn 0415 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT 3. TERRAIN: Mountainous c. 1960s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer. Require authorization & PID, before High Explosives are cleared within 200 meters of a village. 2. MISSION 1st Platoon is with sweeping a large Ridgeline running north to south, parallel to Route 14. Enemy rockets and artillery have been spotted along the ridge over the past few days. 1st Platoon is going to sweep the area north to south, searching several villages. OBJ Alpha & OBJ Bravo. 3. EXECUTION MAP OF THE AO https://imgur.com/7SJ6LY0 PHASE I - ORP Alpha a. At 1930 EST, 1st Platoon will be dropped into LZ b. From there 1st Platoon will move south and establish an ambush along the stream beds running west to east. The platoon HQ will then set out and conduct a leaders recon of OBJ Alpha Spoiler https://imgur.com/JDXt37f PHASE II - OBJ Alpha c. From there 1st Platoon will prepare to either assault or or sweep OBJ Alpha. d. 1st Platoon will push across phase line Ruby and move in on OBJ Alpha. e. Once OBJ Alpha is cleared, 1st Platoon will hold and prepare to be picked up by Rattlers. Spoiler https://imgur.com/30JM9cx PHASE III - ORP Bravo a. 1st Platoon will land at LZ Copper. b. From there 1st Platoon will move to PL Sapphire and set up facing south. c. HQ will conduct a leaders recon, and prepare to move to Phase IV depending on the findings. https://imgur.com/QX68EtS PHASE IV - OBJ Bravo a. After conducting the leaders recon, 1st Platoon will assess if the village is occupied by enemy forces and will either enter and clear the town or will assault. b. If the Village is occupied, 1st Squad will move from ORP Bravo to PL Jade and establish a SBF position c. 1st Squad will move to PL Jade and prepare to move south towards Zone 1 to begin clearing. d. Once 1st Squad has reached Zone 1, 1-6 will move south into the town. e. Squads will clear the town and will not move further south than Route 9, which is the Limit of Advance. f.
