TERRAIN: Mountains, River Valley, Jungle, Rice Paddies, Rural After two weeks of heavy fighting on the ridge lines east of Battalion HQ, Alpha Company has been bled dry. The company is operating below 50% strength and was given a small respite. Alpha Company has been pulling security at Fire Support Base Hogan, a temporary FSB constructed at LZ Mexico. The company has assisted a platoon of engineers in erecting makeshift entrenchments and fortifications; however, construction of viable fortifications has yet to be completed. As of yesterday morning, Bravo Company stumbled upon a large enemy force further north along the ridgeline. FSB Hogan provided supporting fire as Bravo Company broke contact. FSB Hogan is currently the most Northern American outpost along the ridge. It is believed that the enemy is massing a force for a coordinated counter attack. Alpha Company was warned about a large force assembling to the north of FSB Hogan yesterday. No attack came during the night or thus far during the day. As nightfall approaches, Alpha Company continues to dig in, establish fields of fire, preregistering artillery markers, establishing and manning listening posts, and sending out foot patrols to search for signs of enemy activity. Alpha Company is severely under strength, however they have the support of 71st AHC, as well as supporting fire from FSB Wang. FSB Hogan is lightly fortified and undermanned. In the face of a large enemy formation, it is possible that the FSB may have to be abandoned. a.
