REGION: Normandie, France 2. WEATHER: Clear Skies; 38F ; Wind <1kn NNE; Dawn 0415 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT 3. TERRAIN: Field, Hedgerows, Small towns Just days before Operation Overlord, 1st Cavalry Division's Pathfinder unit is about to be dropped into Normandie. French resistance have provided intel on some HVT's in the target area, and command has deemed these objectives crucial to the success of Operation Overlord. German forces are on low alert, and bored, so they will not initially react on gunfire. There are several HQ's in the area, and the french have information regarding their route. These officers are the main coordinator of the defence provided at this end of the Atlantikwall. Once this OP is completed, the pathfinders will install triangualtion equipmen so that both the 101st and the 82nd are able to reach their targets. a. Enemy Disposition Large groups of German Forces defending the Atlantikwall defensive positions Large in number and well equipped. AA Positions Artillery Positions Mortar Positions HQ Elements b. Friendly Disposition French Resistance c. 1940s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. Map of the AO: Notes from Commander: All requests for Close Air Support/Medevac/Resupply/Insertion are to go to Mako 1-6 on FREQ 60.0. Mako 1-6 will contact Rattler 1-6 on FREQ 50.0 to request an asset to assist 1st Platoon as necessary. Once the asset is in the area of Operation for Mako 1-6, Infantry can contact the bird via CAS Net FREQ 45.0 to guide in the bird/direct close air support. If discovered and in threat of being wiped out, French Resistance can provide hidingspots to be safe from German Forces. Expect the enemy to utilize grenades when in close combat.
