  1. Operation Order Operation Enduring Freedom 002 Afghanistan - Logar Province 2007 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ OPERATION TIME: 1900 EST IN-GAME TIME: 1300 Zulu ORGANIZATION: 1. REGION: Khoshi District, Logar Province, Afghanistan 2. WEATHER: Clear, 70F (21C); Wind 3kn NNW; Dawn 0610 IGT; Dusk 1845 IGT 3. TERRAIN: Hills, Rural Countryside ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 1. SITUATION: Logar Province, Afghanistan, 2007. The Taliban/AQ have been waging low-intensity warfare against the Afghan government and its ISAF partners. Government establishments, as well as civilian centers have been the main victims of the insurgency in recent months and ISAF forces have also been regularly engaged by insurgent forces. Recently developed sources have discovered that the Taliban may be using the regional production of Opium/Cannabis to fund their insurgency operations. In order to quell the insurgency, ISAF forces must begin investigating the production of narcotics in the region and determine their legality. To do so, ISAF forces will need to establish stronger presence in these drug-producing regions. 1st Platoon's objective is to establish a foothold in the region by rebuilding two combat outposts in the Nefer River Valley, conducting a presence patrol through the valley and clearing a known IED-ridden compound, and meeting with a local village leader to discuss his village's production of narcotics. a. 2000s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer. 2. MISSION 1st Platoon's primary objective will be to deploy from FOB Glenn to reestablish/fortify COP Aldrin and COP Armstrong. After securing the COPs, 1st Platoon will conduct a presence patrol through the town of Nefer (OBJ Gemini) and clear an old industrial complex ridden with IEDs (OBJ Mercury). Finally, 1st Platoon will meet with a local leader in the village of Kandar (OBJ Apollo) to discuss the village's production of Cannabis/Opium and its significance, then destroy the drug operation if found to be illegal. 3. EXECUTION MAP OF THE AO PHASE I - COP Armstrong a. At 1330 Zulu Time, 1st Platoon will load into CH-47s and be dropped at LZ Ganymede. b. At 1335, 1st Platoon will move southeast to RP 1. c. HQ Element will hold in COP Aldrin and continue to fortify the outpost, while 1st Squad moves into the town of Nefer and begins conducting presence patrols/speaking with locals. c. Once OBJ Mercury is secured, 2nd Squad will move to COP Aldrin, and provide overwatch for 1st Squad while they conduct their patrol in the town. c. 1st Squad will return to COP Aldrin, after clearing half of the village, and replace 2nd Squad, as they go out to clear the second half of the town. PHASE IV - OBJ Apollo a. Friendly forces will be flown in to occupy COP Armstrong and COP Aldrin. 1st Platoon will rally at COP Aldrin and be flown to LZ Callisto. b. 1st Platoon will establish an OP on HIll 855 (OP 3), and monitor OBJ Apollo. c. 15. WARNING ORDER Operation Jeb Stuart 002 South Vietnam - I Corps - Quang Tri - Da Krong Valley ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITUATION OPERATION TIME: 1900 EST IN-GAME TIME: 1200 IGT ORGANIZATION: 1. REGION: Quang Tri Province, I Corps, South Vietnam 2. WEATHER: Clear Skies; 112F (32C); Wind <1kn NNE; Dawn 0515 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT 3. TERRAIN: Mountainous, Triple Layer Canopy, Large River Valleys In May 1968 U.S. replacements surge into Vietnam to fill the shoes of the 24,000 US Casualties in the aftermath of the Tet Offensive. Search and Destroy operations are launched all across the countryside, in an attempt to retake lost ground, root the enemy's supplies out of their holes, and destroy what remains of the Viet Cong in South Vietnam. After assisting US Marines with their efforts around Hue City, the 1/7th Cav is being sent back to the 1st Cavalry Divisions base area in the Da Krong Valley. While the majority of the Cavalry troopers were deployed across I. Corps over the past four months, the enemy has reoccupied the areas that the 1st Cavalry had been forced to abandoned. An unknown Viet Cong Battalion augmented with a company of elite sappers & anti-air contingent have fortified the valley, and control the mountains on the eastern bank of the Song Thach River as well as the southern portion of the valley where Camp Sarge proudly used to sit. Camp Savage, the battalion's primary airstrip has been manned by a skeleton crew since the battalion left during Tet; Due to 1/7th CAV's inability to mount regular patrols sweeping the surrounding mountain sides, Camp Savage receives indirect fire around the clock. In addition to the IDF, snipers regularly pick off any members of base security that are stupid enough to raise their heads above their foxholes, and sapper's crawl through the wire every night, tossing satchels and grenades into manned bunkers. Only a contingent of roughly 30 men, mainly comprised of inexperienced rear echelon troops maintain base security. The majority of aircraft stationed there have been destroyed, the remaining birds and aircrews have been evacuated to 2/7th Battalion's base camp further north. Other than base security, all that remains is the remnants of the supply company, and a battery of 155mm howitzers running counter battery operations & providing a shield for the signal platoon stationed at radio relay vandergrift. While evacuating the battalion surgeon and his patients, 2nd Platoon, 71st AHC reported taking copious amounts of 51. caliber anti-air craft fire from the hills east of Song Thach's River & Hill 176. A no fly zone has been established accordingly. a. Enemy Disposition Battalion of Viet Cong Guerrillas ~400 Viet Cong irregulars spread across the hills of the valley. Company of Elite Sappers have been spotted operating in the area. Anti-Air emplacements located on on the hilltops east of the Song Thach River & South of Hill 176 Possible Enemy action Expect Sapper attacks on Camp Sarge & Traps in surrounding area. Expect enemy to occupy many of the forested hills, rather than the villages and open areas. c. 1960s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Maps of the Province: Notes from Commander: All requests for Close Air Support/Medevac/Resupply/Insertion are to go to Mako 1-6 on FREQ 60.0. Mako 1-6 will contact Rattler 1-6 on FREQ 50.0 to request an asset to assist 1st Platoon as necessary. Once the asset is in the area of Operation for Mako 1-6, Infantry can contact the bird via CAS Net FREQ 45.0 to guide in the bird/direct close air support. If an infantry element is in threat of being overrun and requires immediate assistance, they may declare a "Tactical Emergency" to Mako 1-6, who will then have Rattler 1-6 redirect all available air assets to Mako 1-6's Area of Operation to prevent the unit from being overrun. NO GUNSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR THIS MISSION. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MISSION 1st Platoon, A. 21. WARNING ORDER Operation Jeb Stuart 001 South Vietnam - I Corps - Quang Tri - Hue City ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITUATION OPERATION TIME: 1900 EST IN-GAME TIME: 2200 IGT ORGANIZATION: 1. REGION: Quang Tri Province, I Corps, South Vietnam 2. WEATHER: Clear Skies; 112F (32C); Wind <1kn NNE; Dawn 0515 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT 3. TERRAIN: Open, rolling hills, sparse grass land January 30th, 1968, an all out combined PAVN and Viet Cong assault on South Vietnam begins without warning. 36, out of the 44 state capitals were assaulted, including the capital of Saigon. Viet Cong hit squads had infiltrated the cities weeks before, and on the night of January 30th, they sprang into action, detonating satchel charges planted fuel depots, ammo dumps; they launched suicide attacks with massive quantities of explosives on unsuspecting US Soldiers sleeping in their barracks, and lastly they carried out coordinated hits on the few competent South Vietnamese Officers that were left, murdering both them and their families. Once this initial stage was complete, massive assaults from some 750,000 communist soldiers began all across the nation. One such location that was captured rather swiftly was the ancient fortress of Hue City, which stood as Vietnam's capital for two hundred years. After the Viet Cong infiltrators captured the city with ease, massive amounts of troops began moving in to occupy and fortify the already naturally defended city, which was surrounded by strategic canals, and two hundred year old stone walls. PAVN forces began clearing the highways leading to the city, and shuttling in more men and supplies. Soon however, a combined force of US Marines, and ARVN Infantry were mustered to attempt a counter attack to retake the city. A deadly battle began, characterized by the fighting that occurred slowly from house to house. US Marines & ARVN Infantry, were making little progress on their own. In need of assistance, the 1st Cavalry Division was called to maneuver around the enemy at Hue City, and halt the flow of supplies and men into Hue City from the South. The PAVN will not be expecting an attack from their rear. 1st Platoon's objectives will be to move rapidly, locate the enemies supply base, artillery, SAMs, and silence them. From there 1st Platoon will move to secure the southern side of the bridge leading into Hue from Highway 1. a. Enemy Disposition Heavy Disposition of PAVN Regulars Expect motorized troops Expect well equipt PAVN Soldiers to be guarding and operating their installations. Light Anti-Air enplacements located on suppy bases and near Artillery. National Liberation Front Large amounts of poorly equipment south Vietnamese communists moving along Highway 1. Possible Enemy action Expect enemy to react to your helicopters. Expect motorized quick reaction forces. c. 1960s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. Expect the enemy to utilize grenades when in close combat. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MISSION 1st Platoon, A. Company, 1/7th Cavalry Defectors and VC prisoners have given us intel that the PAVN have established a supply base (Base Area 221) along Highway 1, which supplies Viet Cong fighters in Hue City. Lastly, USMC Scouts have spotted PAVN Sam Sites on the heights above Hue City, to the southwest. 1st Cavalry's job will be to deploy behind enemy lines, neutralize these objectives while utilizing its air assets to rapidly maneuver across the large amount of ground, and then clear the south side of Highway 1 Bridge into Hue City. 1st Platoon PRIMARY TASKING: 1st Platoon will locate 1).
