    1. SITUATION

    TIME: 3NOV18 @ 1900 EST (0600 IGT)

WEATHER: 84F (29C); Clear; Wind 15kn NNE; Dawn 0700 IGT; Dusk 1700 IGT

1st Platoon is currently stationed in AirCav HQ. Due to the NVA threat against Khe Sanh Airbase we are to relocate there. NVA outposts between AirCav HQ and Khe Sanh have been hit earlier and are low strength, however reinforcements are spotted moving towards these outposts. Our job is to make sure those reinforcements do not get a chance to dig in at the outposts.

Due to lack of good intel, the area north of the AO is considered a NoFly Zone for our helicopters.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army forces have moved into our area of operations.
    2. Due to the terrain NVA are not able to bring vehicles to Obj. Utah, expect foot soldiers only.
    3. Armor have been spotted north of Khe Sanh, expect armor and heavy weaponry to move into obj. Omaha along the road to the Northeast
    4. No armor has been spotted in Obj. Omaha itself.

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. 1st Platoon and 71st AHC are the only friendly forces in the AO.

    c. 1968s - Rules of Engagement

On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions:

    1. Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision.
    2. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded.
    3. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer.
    4. Unless there is Positive Identification of Targets in an unoccupied building, structures are not to be engaged or targeted by heavy Ordinance including Mortars, Artillery, Armor, or any other forms of high explosives.

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    2. MISSION

1st Platoon is tasked with clearing out Objective Utah and Omaha, in small quick raids utilizing air assault tactics.

71 AHC will be conducting gun runs on the objective after dropping troops off at respective LZs.

    Map of the AO:

    UIJ9M6m.jpg

    Notes from Commander:

    • All requests for Close Air Support/Medevac/Resupply/Insertion are to go to Mako 1-6 on FREQ 40.0. Mako 1-6 will contact Rattler 1-6 on FREQ 50.0 to request an asset to assist 1st Platoon as necessary. Once the asset is in the area of Operation for Mako 1-6, Infantry can contact the bird via CAS Net FREQ 45.0 to guide in the bird/direct close air support.
    • If an infantry element is in threat of being overrun and requires immediate assistance, they may declare a "Tactical Emergency" to Mako 1-6, who will then have Rattler 1-6 redirect all available air assets to Mako 1-6's Area of Operation to prevent the unit from being overrun.

    c. 1st Platoon will first clear the rim of the crater, and one team will move down the crater to sweep the camp, while the other team covers from the highground.

    d. Once the squad begins clearing the camp, the other team will have to move to OP 2 to act a screen for enemy reinforcements coming from the North.

1st Platoon is currently stationed in Outpost Alaska together with ARVN soldiers. As of earlier this night NVA and VC forces have begun a large scale offensive attacking several US, ARVN and allied installations. Friendly patrols have spotted boats carrying equipment and personnel into our AO, so we suspect that an attack both on our supply route from 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters in Tan Son Nhut air base and FOB is incoming.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army Forces have moved into our area of Operations.
    2. We expect a large amount of enemy foot soldiers and some amount of light static weaponry.
    3. Due to the terrain we do not expect any heavy weaponry (Vehicles, statics, etc.)

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, ARVN 1st Division. Garrisoning outpost Alaska.
    2. Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Infantry Division. Garrisoning 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters and clearing a path to the river.

    c. 1940s - Rules of Engagement

    5. The Killing of any unarmed civilian will require a full report from the NCOIC to the Commanding Officer, including the circumstances leading up to the killing.

    Notes from Commander:

    • Supplies and manpower transport are available from the previously secured positions.
    • PAC and surgical kits available in the field.

    1. SITUATION

    TIME 6OCT18 @ 1900 EST (1200 IGT)

WEATHER: 84F (29C); Clear; Wind 15kn NNE; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT

This week we will be searching for the final PAVN Base Camp in the vacinity of Mai Lai

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Our level of intelligence on the enemy in this region is little to none. We know that Five PAVN Basecamps have been set up in our Area of operations, and that they have the resources of five battalions spread out across our 440 Square Kilometers.

    2. Our relations with the locals is poor, expect IEDs and expect the Civilians to take up in arms against us if we fail too many objectives or kill innocents.

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry will be acting as base security for our Division HQ. They will be conducting foot patrols in the immediate vicinity of our Division's Airbase, no further than One Kilo out.

    c. 1970s - Rules of Engagement

    5. The Killing of any unarmed civilian will require a full report from the NCOIC to the Commanding Officer, including the circumstances leading up to the killing.
    6. Each trooper is allotted one "accident" for the entire campaign. If that specific trooper has a second incident involving the killing of an unarmed civilian, that soldier may be removed from the server for the rest of the mission.

    Map of the AO:

    l1AShpr.jpg
