  1. WARNING ORDER

    Fishhook 004

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

    SITUATION

    TIME 24MAR18 @ 1900 EST (1730 IGT)

WEATHER: 80F (27C); Clear; Wind 0kn NNE; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT

After last weeks mission, we pushed the Vietnamese off of Hill 135, Hill 139, and destroyed a 1/3 of the supplies that were evacuated from the City. Now that we have a clear path across the Mekong River, 1st Platoon will push West and begin the long hunt for COSVN, the Joint PAVN/VC Headquarters that coordinates all offensive activities in and around Saigon.

1st Platoon's objectives are to hunt down the COSVN Headquarters. Three area's of interest have been marked, 1st Platoon is to search each of these locations for any signs of the COSVN HQ, and destroy/neutralize any PAVN or VC Forces found. After all three area's have been searched and any information has been gathered, 1st Platoon will extract.

1st Objective Le Coq d'or - the Ruins of a Colonial French Plantation. Seems to be a decent place to garrison PAVN Forces, and is the site of a few Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Positions.

2nd Objective Antean Leak - A small Cambodian village, that has been housing Vietcong troops for an extended period of time. Attempt to take a Viet Cong soldier prisoner for interrogation. They are unlikely to know of the exact whereabouts of the COSVN HQ, but might perhaps have some useful information.

3rd Objective - Low altitude Arial Reconnaissance has noticed high levels of vehicle traffic stopping at a remote camp in the jungle, unknown if its a village or military way station, could perhaps even be a communications relay station for COSVN. Investigate.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Viet Cong Forces have been spotted manning AA sites in and around the Valley, our Slick pilots must fly at tree top level or above the cloud ceiling.

    2. Viet Cong Forces suspected to be operating out of the town of Antean Leak.

    3. Once the AA site is eliminated, Firebirds 1-1 & 1-2 will be able to provide CAS if necessary.

    4. Viet Cong Forces will be well equipt, with AK-47s, RPDs, and RPGs.

    5. Armor is known to Operate deep withing Western bank of the MeKong River, expect Armor on the roads.

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division
    2. Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division

    c. 1970s - Rules of Engagement

On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions:

    1. Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision.
    2. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded.
    3. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer.

After last weeks mission, the City was briefly captured however the supplies were not destroyed. Vietcong forces were able to move their supplies back across the river safely, and successfully evacuated any COSVN Headquarters units deeper into the jungle to the west of the river. Due to this VC forces will be better equipt for the duration of the campaign. Now that the last major VC installation has been cleared out on the east side of the MeKong River, we can begin to drive into the belly of the beast.

Our first mission to the west of the river will a Search and Destroy mission, Viet Cong forces are dug in on the western ridge running parallel to the river. There is a Viet Cong encampment at the top of Hill 135 and they have set up scattered fortifications to get eyes on the Village. VC Forces also have a small outpost to the North of Village with an AA site covering the northern end of the Mekong River, on Hill 139.

Will will eliminate the AA Sites on Hill 139, and then will move to seize Hill 135.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Viet Cong Forces have been spotted manning AA sites and recoiless rifles on a cliff over looking the village on Hill 139.

    2. Viet Cong Forces are operating out of an encapment on Hill 135, and set up MG nests and overwatch points on the Village.

After last weeks mission, the City's exterior defenses were neutralized, and any attempt to smuggle supplies out before the assault has been thwarted. We will now capture the city, neutralizing the garrison, and capturing the large amounts of supplies in the City.

Intelligence also suggests that the city will not be given up without a fight. We are suspecting a relief force to counter attack from the west. After the City is captured prepare to defend while the munitions are rigged to blow.

As a result of last weeks recon, at least one AAA Gun was spotted in the city, so keep this in mind while planning.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. PAVN Regulars are garrisioning the City

    2. Viet Cong Relief force is being organized to the west, in an attempt to break through to the city.

    3. One AAA spotted in the city last week, expect there to be more.

President Nixon authorized US action in Cambodia three days. The Primary objectives of the Cambodian Incursion are to destroy enemy training camps, hidden supply bases, and the joint VC/PAVN Headquarters operating in the border regions of Cambodia. Ariel reconnaissance has spotted the large supply base, however smaller teams of Cavalry Scouts from the 1st Cavalry Division are being dispatched to hunt down smaller caches, training camps, and HQs hidden in caves or under the dense canopy of the jungle.

Our first objective will be to remove VC/PAVN presence on the Western Side of the Mekong River, and establish three bases of Operations to push deeper into Cambodia. Ariel Recon has already spotted a large supply base, known as "The City" to the north of the 1st Cavalry's Headquarters. 1st Platoon is being dispatched to reconnoiter "the city" in preparations for an attack coming next Operation. 1st Platoon is also to destroy guard posts and patrol bases surrounding "The city" and to cut off further reinforcements to "the city", setting it under siege.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Vietcong and North Vietnamese Army Forces are operating in the area.

    2. U.S. Forces are estimated to be outnumbered nearly 4 to 1 in this sector.

    3. Heavy Anti Aircraft Presence to the East of the Mekong River.

    4. The Cambodian Invasion saw some of the first Armored battles of the Vietnam War, so pack Anti Tank Weapons.

    NOTICE OF DEPLOYMENT

The Cambodian Incursion - Spring of 1970

    r2Xt6qg.jpg?1

    Operation Fishhook 001 - Saturday March 10th @ 19:00EST

President Nixon's Address to the Nation May of 1970

    Click --->

In the Spring of 1970, President Nixon announced his plan to expand the war into the neutral country of Cambodia, which has been heavily infiltrated by PAVN and NLF forces, who use border regions of Cambodia as a sancuary to store supplies, train recruits, and transport soldiers to the southern reaches of the Republic of Vietnam. President Nixon's plan called for a joint RVN-US invasion of the border regions of Cambodia to capture massive amounts of supplies and the elusive COSVN (Joint NVA-VC) Headquarters, which coordinated attacks in III Corps & the Mekong Delta.

The Cambodian Incursion was incredibly bloody and was only partially successful. Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment entered Cambodia on May 1st with ~130 Soldiers and left on June 30th with only 9 soldiers still alive.

The Cambodian Incursion lead to the capturing of vast amounts of munitions and supplies which kept the NVA & VC from mounting a large scale offensive until the following year, however US and ARVN forces failed to capture the elusive COSVN headquarters. When US forces were just a few miles from the Headquarters, all US Forces were recalled from Cambodia due to the, Case-Church Amendment passed on June 27th, 1970, which restricted US-Forces from entering Cambodian or Laotian territory as a result of public pressure from the Kent State Anti-War Protests and Shootings on May 4th, 1970.

  17. Hey Guys,

It has not been lost on me that we've had dwindling attendance at our two weekly patrols. These patrols are meant to do stuff out of the ordinary and fun. We often play as other Nation's Armed Forces, even play as the Viet Cong & Taliban from time to time. We've tried to use our patrols as ways of breaking the norm.

Attendance as dwindled quite a bit since the beginning of Winter.

Is there a more optimal Time or Day that our members could attend?

    Current Patrol Schedule:

Tuesday 8:30pm EST     -   UNSUNG Vietnam Patrol

    Thursday 8:30pm EST   -   Modern Day/RHS Patrol

Feel free to comment with a "write in" time/day that would work better for you rather than the current patrol scedule.

    SITUATION

    TIME 17FEB18 @ 1900 EST (1200 IGT)

WEATHER: 32F (0C); Overcast, Chance of Showers; Wind 0kn NNE; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT

Afghan National Army & Afghan National Police forces have ceased all patrol activity outside of the main Kunar River Valley to our North; By doing this the ANA & ANP have allowed themselves to be trapped essentially, and their few remaining FOBs have been receiving accurate indirectly fire from the Mountains to the South, daily. To the Northwest, along the Kunar River, Taliban Fighters have been car bombing ANP Checkpoints by Day, and conducting mass wave attacks on ANP Outposts by Night. To the Northeast, along the Kunar River, the situation is much of the same, however Afghan National Army Bases and Checkpoints often take indirect fire from Across the Pakistani Border all times during the day, and are unable to retaliate; They also deal with an incredible amount of roadside improvised Explosive devices which neutralize patrols, along with mass wave attacks by night.

Now that we have a foothold and have routed out many of the conventional established Taliban camps, many taliban fighters have taken to the mountains or have blended in with the civilian population. We are to start our slow drive north towards the main river valley, and will flush out the guerrilla fighters who have mixed in with the population in these two "off shoot" valleys to the South of Kunar Valley Proper.

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Taliban Forces are numbered to be above battalion strength in the entire Kunar Valley; We suspect there is a over a platoon-sized element + of light infantry fighters operating in each valley;

    2. ANP report frequent car bombings in 1-1's AO.

    3. Civilian reports of Taliban Hardpoints within several villages in 1-2's AO;

    4. Reports of Mortar teams moving rapidly, shelling ANP Positions to the North, in both team's AO.

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. Alpha Company, 13th 'Kunar' Battalion, Afghan National Army
    2. Afghan National Police, Kunar Province Border Guard.

    EXECUTION

    1st Platoon, A. Company, 1/7th Cavalry

    1st Section

1st Section may insert from Bagram Airbase, FOB Robstrepo, or FOB Punta Ceurvo. 1-1 took accurate indirect fire from the Village of Hysad last Operation. 1-1 is to gather their own intelligence, locate any mountain side caches, outposts, or artillery positions surrounded Hysad, and destroy them. Secondly, one of the Afghan National Police Checkpoints by the mouth of the valley, has reportedly taken heavy fire, stopped transmitting, and is presumed to have been over run. The other ANP Checkpoints to the North are taking constant indirect from mortars somewhere in the mountains near Hysad. ANP Forces refuse to enter the valley and have requested US forces to investigate and assist any surviving ANP forces at Checkpoint Alpha.

PRIMARY TASKING: Gather Intelligence from the Village of Hysad, Locate and destroy Mortar teams operating in the mountains around Hysad.

Ever since the valley has been a major bread basket for Taliban fighters to support and supply their insurgency in the main river valley to the North.

PRIMARY TASKING: Gather intelligence from locals, conduct quick & light reconnaissance of the surrounding mountains, and destroy any Taliban supply caches or hard points found in the Valley.
