    SITUATION

     

    TIME 9FEB18 @ 1900 EST (0430 IGT)

     

    WEATHER: 49F (9C); Overcast, Light Fog, Chance of Showers; Wind 0kn NNE; Sun Rise by 0500 IGT

     

    The Taliban have overrun many ANA outpost in the mountains of Kunar; They have set up training camps, ammunition caches, artillery emplacements within the mountains. Taliban forces exploit villages, move across the border from Pakistan, and assault the ANA remaining checkpoints during the night. During the Day, the Taliban barrage ANP FOBs & lay sophisticated ambushes for ANA & ANP Supply convoys. They have set up several hard points and rocket battery in former ANA FOB's on several mountain tops in the area. 

     

    Our First objective after entering the Kunar Valley will be to retake these hill top Hard Points that house Taliban Rocket's, and we will use these FOBs to launch future operations deeper in the Kunar Valley.

     

    a. Enemy Disposition

    1. Taliban Forces are numbered to be above battalion strength in the entire Kunar Valley; For Saturday anticipate up to a platoon-sized element of light infantry fighters operating out of each FOB; Prepare for squad sized ambushes and pickets set up in the vicinity of each FOB; Locate Heavy Rockets that move between each Outpost, which barrage ANA positions deeper in the valley; 

     

    b. Friendly Forces

    1. Alpha Company, 13th 'Kunar' Battalion, Afghan National Army
    2. Afghan National Police, Kunar Province Border Guard.

    c. Rules of Engagement

    1. On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions:​
    2. Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonble certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision.
    3. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. 
    4. Do not target or strike any Hospitals, Mosques, Churches, Shrines, or Schools except in self-defense to protect yourself, your unit, friendly forces, and designated persons or property under your protection/control
    5. Do not fire into civilian populated areas or buildings unless the enemy is using them for military purposes or if necessary for your self-defense. Minimize collateral damage.
    6. Do not fire at any target, Paramilitary or Pakistani Regular, regardless of hostile intent or incoming fire, if it resides across the Pakistani Border. Inform your commander and disengage.

    1st Section

     

    1st Section is to insert silently into their AO, conduct a recon of FOB Robstrepo & FOB Punta Ceurvo, then capture them.

     

    PRIMARY TASKING: Reconnoiter & Capture FOBs Robstrepo and Punta Ceurvo.

    Since 2014, the United States began the gradual process of withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, and giving more responsibility to the Afghan Nation Army (ANA). However in the past few years, the Taliban have launched several large scale offensives and retaken several provinces from the Afghan National Army. The Taliban have overrun many ANA outpost, have set up training camps deeps within the mountains, and continually attack and terrorize the civilian population and Afghan Nation Police residing in the cities in the Kunar Valley. The 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Division, is being deployed to assist with the counter insurgency being conducted by ANA forces, for the next Six Weeks.

    To begin, we will have a 15 minute classroom session on the basics of Air Assault, we will spend the next 15 minutes conducting a live insert into LZ Zulu. We'll be immediately picked back up and flown to HLZ Yankee.

     

    This rest of this FTX will be designed for each team to practice operating with their new specialization. Mako 1-1, will enter their AO via Air Assault, HALO, or HAHO. Once successfully inserted into their AO they will complete a simple OBJ and then will prepare to link up with Mako 1-2, to take down the final objective together. Mako 1-2 will be inserting into their AO via ground transport. They will practice operating with the vehicle of their choice and will complete a small OBJ and will standby to rally with Mako 1-1 to take down the final OBJ. All units will return to base via Rattler 1-1.

     

    It will not be necessary for team leaders to post official Op Orders this week.

     

     

    2. MISSION

    Mako 1-1 & 1-2 are tasked with inserting into their respective AO's, conducting small hit and run raids on their respective objectives, and then are to rally and work in unison to conduct a raid on a guerrilla training camp.

    The KPA front line has finally crumbled as a result of unrelenting coalition assaults. While KPA forces are disorganized & shattered, 1st Platoon will be tasked with capturing the KPA 4. Divisional HQ and General Staff. Nakadake Airfield is garrisoned by KPA Forces and may contain enemy AA. Any prolonged or sustained engagement at the villa might draw QRF from Nakadake Airfield.

     

    MISSION

    1st Platoon is tasked to conduct a hit and run raid on the Villa at Rejidensu Konami [079925] which is the site of 4. Divisional HQ & capture the General of the Korean People's Army 4. Division, Kim Rak-Gyom in order to cut the head off of the remaining KPA forces besieged on the island.

    All detachments will be working in unison to conduct this raid. Insertion will be via air assault in UH-60. Detachment leaders are to strategize and present one OPORD.

    3. EXECUTION

    PHASE I - Movement

     

    a. 1st Squad will land at LZ Tango.  From LZ Tango 1st Squad will move to Phase Line Alpha.

    b. 2nd Squad will land at LZ Sierra. 2nd Squad will move from PL Sierra to Phase Line Bravo, Charlie, and finally onto Phase Line Delta, while attempting to stay concealed from any enemies at OBJ Alpha.

     

     

     

    PHASE II - OBJ Alpha & Bravo & Charlie

     

    a. Once at Phase Lines Alpha & Delta, 1-1 & 1-2 will get eyes on their respective objectives, formulate a plan of attack.

    b. Each squad will then coordinate and assault each objective at the same time.

    c. Once OBJ Alpha is secure, 1st Squad will push on to clear OBJ Charlie, and kill or capture the Camp's Commissar who will be wearing a Beret. Once clear, 1st Squad will set up security around OBJ Charlie, while 2nd Squad consolidates all the civilians and moves them to OBJ Charlie.

    PHASE III - Evactuation

    a. 1st Platoon will call for extraction once all the civilians have been moved to OBJ Charlie.

    b. 1st and 2nd Squads will hold the perimeter while 1-6 & 1-6R Load the civilians on the CH-47 at LZ Utah. 

    c. 1st and 2nd Squads will then fall back to the CH-47 and will extract with the civilians.

    d. Firebird 1-1 will be providing CAS while the Platoon extracts.

     

     

    PHASE III - Endex

    a. 1st Cavalry Division will ENDEX at base.

    - All requests for fire will come to the Platoon Leader first.

    - Reinserts will not be Via teleport. Be very careful. If you die, Reinserts will be done via helicopter, and will take some time.

  14. Hey Guys, 

     

     

    Some of you have expressed interest in some Sci-Fi Mods, such as the new Star Wars Universe Mod & the Halo: Insurrection Mod. I think this'll be a good way to break out of the norm and have a bit of fun.

     

    1. Jordan & Chardi have agreed to start putting together a Star Wars mod pack. 

     

    2. I'll be compiling some mods that we could use in a Halo Modset. 

     

    We'll be working with Cummings to get these these mods on the server for one specific weekend so that we could have some fun!

    - 71st Company, 145th Aviation Battalion will be transporting 1st Platoon, and then will running CAS neutralizing enemy forces in the City.

     

    - SFOD-A7111 will be assisting 71st Company.

     

    - Friendly forces will assaulting the beach at 06:30IGT.

     

    3. EXECUTION

    PHASE I - AAA

     

    a. 1st Platoon will sail and land at LZ Alpha.

    b. 1st Platoon will then move covertly from Phase Line Bravo, to Phase Line Charlie, and will cross behind the beach head at Phase Line Delta. 

    c. 1st Squad will set up a Phase Line Echo. 2nd Squad will move to Phase Line Foxtrot and set up.

    d. Once both teams are set, each team will neutralize and assault the AAA positions, hopefully without raising alarm.

    PHASE II - Reserve

     

    a. After neutralizing AAA, 1st Platoon will assist friendly forces, clearing the town.

    b. Depending on the situation on the beach, 1st Platoon will either assist with securing the Green or Blue sectors of the city.

    c. Once friendly forces have secured the beachhead and their respective zones, 1st Platoon will push on to neutralize the third AAA position at (104910).

    b. 1st Platoon will then move to PL Whiskey, and then to PL Rum. From Phase Line Rum, 1st Squad will move to SBF 1, while 2nd Squad moves to Way Point 1.

    c. 1st Squad will provide overwatch from SBF 1, while 2nd squad assaults objective Alpha, and clears the compound. 

    d. 2nd Squad will mark enemy weapon's caches for friendly units to secure and capture later.

    PHASE II - OBJ Bravo

     

    a. 2nd Squad will move from Way Point 1, to SBF 2, and set up overwatch on FOB Holiday. 1st Squad will set up on the outskirts of Objective Alpha. Once 2nd Squad is set, 1st Squad will pop smoke, and seize the watchtower overlooking FOB Holiday. 

    b. Once the watchtower is secure, 1st Squad will set up overwatch on the high ground directly above FOB Holiday, as 2nd Squad bounds forward to secure the western half of the FOB along the road.

    c. Once Secure, 1st Platoon will set up defensive positions and will hold until 71st Co/SFOD-A relieve them with Armor via the main high way.
