  6. WARNING ORDER Fishhook 005 ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITUATION TIME 7APR18 @ 1900 EST (1730 IGT) WEATHER: 80F (27C); Clear; Wind 0kn NNE; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT After last weeks mission, we pushed deep into enemy territory to hunt for evidence of the COSVN HQ; however we failed to find any concrete evidence of the headquarters whereabouts. However we did take a Cambodian Villager prisoner, and after extensive interrogation, it would appear he knew the location of a local VC hideout. The job of neutralizing it and the AA in the area has been tasked to Bravo Company. 1st Platoon's objectives this week are to move back to Camp Necessity's Area of Operation. 1st Platoon will relieve a small section of Seamen which have been garrisoning a small Observation Post called, OP Pyle. OP Pyle over looks the Mekong River and several villages, all with high VC activity. OP Pyle reportedly takes regular Mortar, Machine Gun, and Sniper fire from across the River. VC Sappers frequently cross the river, infiltrate the wire around OP Pyle and lob grenades into the bunkers. We believe VC forces are moving men and supplies across the river to our eastern bank, in an attempt to launch an assault on our base of Operations at Camp Necessity. If the VC are attempting an assault to overrun Camp Necessity and Camp Russel they will have to overrun OP Pyle first. 1st Platoon is to dig in and not let that happen. 1st Platoon's objectives are to relieve a squad of US Navy Riverine Patrol men from TF-116. 1st Platoon will then reinforce the defenses, and will then begin sending out small patrols up to a maximum of a Kilometer. Two areas of interest to patrol frequently to disrupt enemy movements are: 1. A small creek bed 700 Meters to the Northwest of OP Pyle. The creek runs southwest to northeast, from the Mekong river to Highway 19. Light enemy movements through the creek. 1st Platoon could set up a possible ambush. 1. Highway 19 in between OP Pyle, Camp Necessity, & Camp Russel. The VC mine the crossroads between all three positions multiple times a day, making travel by truck/jeep between the camps fairly dangerous. 1st Platoon is to clear the cross roads of any mines periodically. Due to lack of manpower throughout the "Fishhook Sector" Camp Russel has stopped sending out Patrols, and the patrols sent from Camp Necessity don't go out any further than the tree line surrounding the runway. You will not run into any other friendly units along the creek bed or crossroads of Highway 19. a. Enemy Disposition Viet Cong Forces have been spotted throughout the villages lining the Mekong River to the west of OP Pyle. Viet Cong Forces periodically mine the crossroads of highway 19 between OP Pyle/Russel/Necessity. Viet Cong Forces will be well equipt, with AK-47s, RPDs, and RPGs. Expect occasional sappers, snipers, mortar attacks. If communist forces are attempting to assault Camp Necessity, they will try to overrun OP Pyle first. If they successfully overrun OP Pyle, 1st Platoon will defend Camp Necessity upon respawn. b. Friendly Forces Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division c. 1970s - Rules of Engagement On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions: Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded. Any requests for fire support or close air support within 600 Meters of a civilian center must first get authorization from commanding officer. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ MISSION 1st Platoon is tasked with capturing Hill 135 and Hill 139. This will be a joint op, lead by 1-1 this week. We will alternate which section is leading the joint operations. SSG C. Mandingo will write one Op Ord for the whole platoon to follow. Maps of the AO: 1st Platoon, A Co., 1/7th Cav AO: 1st Platoon, 71st Co., 145th AV Btn AO: Notes from Commander: 71st Company has several other objectives, other than assisting Mako 1-6. All requests for Close Air Support/Medevac/Resupply/Insertion are to go to Mako 1-6 on FREQ 40.0. Mako 1-6 will contact Rattler 1-6 on FREQ 50.0 to request an asset to assist 1st Platoon as necessary. Once the asset is in the area of Operation for Mako 1-6, Infantry can contact the bird via CAS Net FREQ 45.0 to guide in the bird/direct close air support. If an infantry element is in threat of being overrun and requires immediate assistance, they may declare a "Tactical Emergency" to Mako 1-6, who will then have Rattler 1-6 redirect all available air assets to Mako 1-6's Area of Operation to prevent the unit from being overrun. 71st Co. must transport supplies and manpower to FOB Emery in order to complete construction of the FOB so that infantry may spawn there in future operations. 71st Co. Also may be asked to run resupply and CAS for Charlie Company who is fighting in the field. Due to enemy presence Highway 19 has been closed after dark. All supplies must be airlifted into OP Pyle. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ EXECUTION 1st Platoon, A. Company, 1/7th Cavalry 1st Section 1st Section will man OP Pyle with 2nd Section, conduct patrols of the area, possibly set up listening posts, & possible set up ambushes if Patrol's yield results. Now that we have a clear path across the Mekong River, 1st Platoon will push West and begin the long hunt for COSVN, the Joint PAVN/VC Headquarters that coordinates all offensive activities in and around Saigon. 1st Platoon's objectives are to hunt down the COSVN Headquarters. Three area's of interest have been marked, 1st Platoon is to search each of these locations for any signs of the COSVN HQ, and destroy/neutralize any PAVN or VC Forces found. After all three area's have been searched and any information has been gathered, 1st Platoon will extract. 1st Objective Le Coq d'or - the Ruins of a Colonial French Plantation. Seems to be a decent place to garrison PAVN Forces, and is the site of a few Anti-Aircraft Machine Gun Positions. 2nd Objective Antean Leak - A small Cambodian village, that has been housing Vietcong troops for an extended period of time. Attempt to take a Viet Cong soldier prisoner for interrogation. They are unlikely to know of the exact whereabouts of the COSVN HQ, but might perhaps have some useful information. 3rd Objective - Low altitude Arial Reconnaissance has noticed high levels of vehicle traffic stopping at a remote camp in the jungle, unknown if its a village or military way station, could perhaps even be a communications relay station for COSVN. Investigate. a. Enemy Disposition Viet Cong Forces have been spotted manning AA sites in and around the Valley, our Slick pilots must fly at tree top level or above the cloud ceiling. Viet Cong Forces suspected to be operating out of the town of Antean Leak. Once the AA site is eliminated, Firebirds 1-1 & 1-2 will be able to provide CAS if necessary.
