SITUATION

TIME 3MAR18 @ 1900 EST (1900 IGT)

WEATHER: 41F (5C); Clear; Wind 0kn NNE; Dawn 0500 IGT; Dusk 1900 IGT

After Last weeks raid, we have interrogated the HVT, and received the locations of several Taliban safe-houses in the city of Ovellestan. These target buildings house weapon caches and serve as the base of operations for local cells of taliban fighters who have gone to ground as a result of our campaign in the Kunar. Our objective is to clear these five target buildings, then move to camp Branca for ENDEX.

a. Enemy Disposition

  1. Taliban Forces size and disposition are unknown.

  2. ANA Reported heightened Taliban activity at Night.

  3. Likely that once the first shot is fired in the city, the other safe houses across the building will react by preparing defenses, mounting counter attacks, or setting up ambushes.

b. Friendly Forces

  1. Alpha Company, 13th 'Kunar' Battalion, Afghan National Army - Acting as a blocking force.

c. Rules of Engagement

On order from your commander, enemy military and paramilitary forces are declared hostile and may be attacked subject to the following instructions:

  1. Positive Identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next highest commander for decision.
  2. Do not engage anyone who has surrendered, or is unarmed or wounded.
  3. Do not target or strike any Hospitals, Mosques, Churches, Shrines, or Schools except in self-defense to protect yourself, your unit, friendly forces, and designated persons or property under your protection/control.
  4. Do not fire into civilian populated areas or buildings unless the enemy is using them for military purposes or if necessary for your self-defense; Minimize collateral damage.
  5. Do not fire at any target, Paramilitary or Pakistani Regular, regardless of hostile intent or incoming fire, if it resides across the Pakistani Border. Inform your commander and disengage.
