Iranian Forces have halted their advance into Iraq and have set up strong defensive positions along the Tigris and Euphrates river, believing that our main push would come through Baghdad. Coalition forces have successfully feinted an assault on Baghdad, and have diverted the majority of their forces south to push for Kuwait City, cutting off Iranian forces on the southern coast of the Gulf. Additionally another prong has been launched into Iran itself after exploiting the ongoing conflict with Kurdish Forces. The 1st Cavalry Division, along with several other Coalition units are in the process of penetrating the Zagros Mountains, and intend to come out the other side ready to strike Tehran itself. WARNING ORDER Operation Sabre 002 Iran ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ SITUATION TIME: July 27, 2019 @ 1900 EST (0600 IGT) WEATHER: 112F (44C); Clear; Wind <1kn NNE; Dawn 0600 IGT; Dusk 1800 IGT According to Israeli intelligence which has been corroborated with British Intelligence, it was the Iranian's intentions all along to provoke an incident with Iraqi border forces, in order to gain justifications for their all out offensive. Current Update on the Persian Gulf: The Iranians have launched a successful invasion of the Persian gulf states, closing the straits of Hormuz, and in turn, Iran now controls 58% of the World's Oil Reserves. In the wake of this, the UN Security Council unanimously approved the use of force to assist the gulf states of Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UEA, and Oman, and immediately an international fleet was sent to keep the gulf from being captured. Several US, British, and French Vessels were trapped within the Persian Gulf, while the Majority of the battle fleet has formed a blockade and begun a rigorous bombing campaign hitting strategic Iranian Positions. In addition, Coalition ground forces have been struggling to reach the front due to the logistical nightmare & communications nightmare caused as a result of the surprise assault and planned assassinations of many of the Gulf State Shah's. Egypt & Jordan are being used as the key basing areas for UN Forces entering the theater, however Israeli ports and airfields have remained closed to coalition troops in order to gain the trust and assistance of over Middle Eastern States, further complicating the logistical nightmare. US Forces that were presently stationed in Bahrain and Qatar were overran within the first thirty-six hours of fighting; A large majority of the US Forces stationed in Kuwait and Oman strategically withdrew and were able to assist Saudi Forces in the defense of Riyadh, and continuing the defense of Northern Oman. The Situation in Iraq is much more complicated. With a limited US Force stationed in Ramadi, and our position 200 KM East of Mosul, on the Iraqi-Iranian-Turkish Border. Iraqi Government Forces were over run all across the line, allowing the Iranians to Seize both the Tigris, and up the eastern side of the Euphrates. The Iraqi army has completely collapsed along with their puppet government, which has been replaced with direct Iranian control. A large majority of the population has flocked to the Iranian cause and formed large Shia militias. Southern Iraq has fallen while the predominantly Kurdish, Northern Iraq has held strong during the Iranian onslaught. As of yesterday Morning, US Forces have recaptured the Iraqi city of Kakuk, and began the fight for Bagdad. The Iranian forces in the north have ceased their assault into Iraq, believing us to be too weak to mount and offensive, Iranian forces have moved south to reinforce their position along the Euphrates. In addition, Turkey has yet to lend any assistance to Coalition forces, and are currently bogged down engaging the same Kurdish Militias that have offered us their support. Relying on Turkish neutrality and believing our major offensive thrust to come through Baghdad & believing our northern Flank to be exhausted, we believe that the Iranians only have a token force guarding the passes into Zagros Mountains. A small but specialized Iranian force has been left to garrison our sector, with the majority of OpFor ground forces being made up of Iraqi Shia Militas. Our Objective today will be to launch an offensive, pushing the Iranians out Northern Iraq, in preparation for an invasion of Northern Iran itself. Last week Iranian forces captured Route Diamond, the MSR running through our sector, in addition to several key oil refineries in the Region. Over the past week, Iranian forces have set up several hardpoints to defend their positions on this route. Our Objectives today will include, recapturing the Masbah and Doura Oil Refineries, clearing, and reopening the northern half of Route Diamond, to allow for Coalition forces to travel north in preparation for our invasion of Iran proper. Option #1 Vietnam Campaign: Operation Lincoln Highway Security - Pleiku 1966 This Designed to be a mini-campaign that recreates the 12 Day Skirmish in Operation Lincoln along the Cambodian Border. The Campaign will consist of the lead up and then culminating into the in the climax of the Operation, when a CH-47 full of 1st Cavalry Division troopers, was shot down & the effort to rescue the wounded survivors of the crash as they held off a significant Vietnamese assault. The Build up to the climax will involve patrols along Highway 19, as well as establishing night time security for air-mobile artillery pieces which were flown into jungle clearings acting as mobile fire support bases. Option #2 Modern Day: Invasion of Iran Iran - July 2019 We will be playing the part of the 1st Cavalry Division during an alternate history scenario, where the United States invades the Islamic Republic of Iran after Iranian forces sink a Japanese Oil Tanker, in addition to shooting down a US Navy Drone over international waters, as well taking down an USN AWACS jet, killing nineteen American Servicemen. After retaliatory strikes, Sh'ia militias launched a series of attacks on Israeli forces occupying the Golan Heights, included SCUD attacks directed at Tehran. Due to the further escalation, a coalition of Western Nations formed and launched a limited conventional invasion of the gulf coast of the Islamic Republic of Iran, seizing vital port cities, refineries, and oil pipelines, with the objective of crippling Iran's economy and forcing them to the negotiating table. This campaign will be a conventional conflict setting with the potential to turn into counter-insurgency operations. 1st Cav will be operating with Rotary, Fixed Wing, and armored assets from the United State Air Force and Army's arsenals to take down the formidable and versatile Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran on the ground and in the air.
